Almaty, Kazakhstan – On July 12-13, 2010, in the conference room of the hotel “Astra,” Youth Bank Aktiv conducted its final meeting on the results of its committees, located in Kostanai, Taraz, Uralsk and Ust-Kamenogorsk. The project was implemented through a partnership between the Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia (EFCA), and The Association of Children and Youth Organisations of Kostanai Region (AYL -Kostanai),  Zhambyl Zhastary (an NGO in Taraz), the The Centre of Youth  Initiatives Zhardem-Contribution (an NGO in Uralsk), and the PF Federation of Women “Status” (Ust-Kamenogorsk), as well as the financial support from GSM Kazakhstan/Kcell. 

Dushanbe, Tajikistan - With the support from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Astana, the Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia began to finance a series of projects targeted at poverty reduction of vulnerable groups in the Khatlon region and Rudaki district of Tajikistan. 

Almaty, Kazakhstan – With the support of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, the Independent Anticorruption Council (IAC) was established in order to unite public associations, independent experts and representatives of businesses to help reduce the level of corruption in Kazakhstan.

Varzob, Tajikistan – Eighteen activists from local communities in three regions of Tajikistan participated in a three-day training on development of local self-governance and promotion of the democratic rights of citizens.  The training was organized by the Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia (EFCA) and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), and was held from May 20 to May 22, 2010.  Participants will spread the knowledge they received during the training in their communities, conducting regular meetings with local citizens.

Almaty, Kazakhstan - On May 21, 2010 an Awards Ceremony was held in the Rixos Almaty Hotel for the winners of a competition for highest achievement in business, organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Kazakhstan.  The primary goal of the event is to recognize the achievements of companies specializing in various branches of the Kazakh economy and to further the reputation of their work.

Batken, Kyrgyzstan - On April 30, 2010, Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia (EFCA) presented the results from the “Increasing the Potential of Representatives of Local Government Bodies and the Non-Profit Sector in Creating Harmonious Communities” project. This project has been run by EFCA in partnership with the foundation “International Tolerance,” with financial support from the European Union, the Norwegian Embassy and the US Agency for International Development (USAID).

Dushanbe, Tajikistan - In mid April Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia (EFCA) began a series of training sessions on social enterprise for participants of the “Improving Civil Society Organizations’ Services for Vulnerable Groups” program. EFCA is running the project with financial support for the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Shulbinsk, Kazakhstan - On April 5, 2010 in the regional orphanage there was a week of goodwill within the Youth Development Program designed by Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia (EFCA) and financed by AES Shulba HPP.

Osh, Kyrgyzstan - On March 16, 2010, in the conference room of the guest house ‘Sunrise’ the roundtable “Youth Bank in Action” was conducted. The initiative is part of the Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia’s (EFCA) project “Improving the Potential of Representatives of Local Government and the Non-Profit Sector in the Creation of Harmonious Communities,” which came to being in partnership with the social fund “Supporting International Tolerance,” and through financial support from the European Union, the Canadian Embassy in Almaty, the Norwegian Foreign Office and the US Agency for International Development (USAID).
