| HOW TO HELP? |
|
There are several ways you and your organization can help the Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia (EFCA) in its mission to develop Central Asian organizations that help to empower people. Most donors – corporations, governments and foundations in particular – support projects. EFCA has designed and implemented more than three dozen complex social projects, which pursue EFCA’s mission while at the same time helping donors reach their goals. EFCA requires general operating support to assist in maintaining high standards of professionalism and transparency. USAID is the largest institutional donor in this area, and individuals, corporations and EFCA’s trustees also contribute. EFCA has a goal of raising $20,000 in 2009 to help build a three-month reserve fund, which is key to EFCA’s sustainability. EFCA welcomes in-kind or matching contributions. Examples include UNESCO providing parallel funding to support Kazakhstani craftspeople, and agreements with financial institutions to provide funding for people trained under EFCA projects. Volunteers, both foreign and local, help EFCA run. In 2008, EFCA hosted international interns from universities in Canada, Britain, France and the United States, and local interns from universities in Dushanbe, Bishkek and Almaty. EFCA also welcomes volunteers for a range of projects and activities.
