| Marketing Training Delivered in Almaty for Kazakhstan’s Artisans |

Almaty, Kazakhstan – A professional training called “Improving Kazakhstan artisans’ marketing skills” are being delivered on January 12 through 16 the Almaty College of Applied Decorative Arts named after O. Tansykbayev. The event is being organized by the Our Heritage public foundation with funding and information support from Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia (EFCA), Chevron, GSM-Kazakhstan/KCell and Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the program named “Development of Crafts and Rebirth of Traditional Applied Arts in Kazakhstan”. The purpose is to train professional art managers to promote handicraft products made by local masters. The event is designed for professional artisans and representatives of the Resource Centers for artisans and entrepreneurs who sell souvenirs. During the training, its participants will be able to master the techniques of selling artisan products and learn about international marketing. The training is being conducted by international artisan marketing expert Bet Gotsling (USA). She is an independent advisor to non-commercial Aid to Artisans Inc that helps artisans in developing countries by providing access to international markets, holding business trainings and promoting products in markets. Bet Gotsling has been involved in implementing projects to promote artisan products in the Middle Asian markets (Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan).
The Development of Crafts and Revival of Artisanship in Kazakhstan program has been successfully implemented since 2006. It delivered 25 professional trainings and 6 business trainings, published two manuals and three bulletins in various applied art and artisanship areas across Kazakhstan. |
