Eurasia Foundation office opened in Bishkek in 1999. Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia (EFCA) was registered as a local organization in November, 2005 and continued work of Eurasia Foundation.

Technical assistance and grant priorities in Bishkek include helping local governments connect with their constituents, promoting small-scale business development, offering management training for civil servants and improving links between higher education institutions and local employers, promoting rights and improving access to community social services for people with disabilities. EFCA also provides training and other necessary assistance for operational and financial independence of the region’s mass media.
 
In addition, EFCA addresses the challenges of labor migration by providing training to improve labor migrants’ professional skills, to protect their rights and interests and to legally search for work.
